A Detailed Explanation of UK Tier 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 Visas and Application Procedure

For candidates from outside of European Economic Area, UK’s 5 tier points based visa system is the main route for immigration. This lets them study, work, train or invest here. However according to the latest changes Brexit will eventually happen and the UK will ultimately leave. For instance Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa has been replaced to the UK Innovator Visa.

According to the new system the applicants are divided into 5 tiers and they must clear a points based assessment to become entitle for a visa in any of the 5 tiers. Generally points are given according to the age, ability and experience of the applicant in the applications for work visa.

You must secure points score over minimum threshold if you wish to get a successful outcome for your application. The minimum points required differ for each tier.

Detailed Explanation of the 5 tier visa system:

Tier 1: High value migrants from outside of EEA can apply for Tier 1 Visa. Individuals who fall under this category are investors and a very few individuals who come under exceptional talent visa.

Tier 2: Skilled workers who have a job offer from a certified company in the UK and are outside of EEA can apply under this category. Candidates who fall under this category are skilled workers who have been transferred to the UK by an international organization and for the skilled workers where there is a proven shortage in the UK, sports people and ministers of religion.

Tier 3: Low skilled workers who fulfil the specific temporary labour shortages can apply under this category. So far no one has been allotted this visa by the Government. This means currently you cannot apply for this visa.

Tier 4: Students above 16 years of age from outside of EEA can apply under this category. Applicants must secure an admission in the registered UK educational institution before they can apply for this visa.

Tier 5: Six sub tier of temporary worker including sports, charity, creative, youth mobility scheme and the religious workers fall under this category which entitles around 55,000 young individuals to work in the UK every year on working holidays. This visa is allotted to the young individuals from nations who have reciprocal arrangements with the UK.
